By sufferance, and thy wonted favour deignd.

Thee I have heard relating what was don

Therefore from this high pitch let us descend

And hunger both, from labour, at the houre

To whom thus Raphael answerd heavnly meek.

Speaking or mute all comliness and grace

Of sweet repast; they satiate, and soon fill,

Abundantly his gifts hath also pourd [ 220 ]

Gladly into the wayes of God with Man:

Imbud, bring to thir sweetness no satietie.

Inward and outward both, his image faire:

How suttly to detaine thee I devise,

On Man his Equal Love: say therefore on;

Nor are thy httｐs://reａｄ.９9cｓw.ｃoｍlips ungraceful, Sire of men,

Fond, were it not in hope of thy reply:

A lower flight, and speak of things at hand

Squard in full Legion (such command we had)

Ere my remembrance: now hear mee relate

Then Fruits of Palm-tree pleasantest to thirst

Destruction with Creation might have mixt.

Farr on excursion toward the Gates of Hell;

Useful, whence haply mention may arise [ 200 ]

Or enemie, while God was in his work,

To see that none thence issud forth a spie,

And Day is yet not spent; till then thou seest

Nor tongue ineloquent九*九*藏*書; for God on thee

My Storie, which perhaps thou hast not heard; [ 205 ]

Attends thee, and each word, each motion formes

For God we see hath honourd thee, and set

For while I sit with thee, I seem in Heavn, [ 210 ]

Least hee incenst at such eruption bold, [ 235 ]

And sweeter thy discourse is to my eare
